A giclée print is one produced by the giclée process. The high end of inkjet printing is the giclée print … . The name is derived from the French verb “gicler” meaning to squirt, or more accurately in this case, an extremely fine spray of many different sized droplets. This application of overlapping dots of ink mixes, forming additional color combinations. The application of the inks in this printing process is so fine that there are no discernible dots or droplets on the final print. — Steven Bleicher, Contemporary Color: Theory and Use, 2012. Giclées are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. — Marjorie Wertz, The Tribune-Review (Greensburg, Pennsylvania), 2 Oct. 2005
Maybe, and for good reason. The Box stores are not allowed to check images for quality before printing, so the results are never what they could be or should be. At Rimrock Image Studio, each one of your images are examined individually for artifacts, resolution, proper cropping, color balance, levels etc. Our printers are true giclée printers and use the highest quality pigment inks available today. Further, our print media, whether it's canvas, watercolor or photographic paper, is the highest quality available in our industry.
Great question. The answer is that we simply won't know until we are able to view the file on our screen. But generally speaking, we're finding that we can sometimes print a cell phone photo at around 16x20 if it's a great shot! Click here to upload your photo and we'll find out.
While we can do rush orders (depending on our current work load), we would not suggest rushing a quality print order. When you print at Rimrock Image Studio, our job is to turn out the highest quality print possible. Quality is worth the wait!
Yes, we certainly can. There are different ways to get an image on "metal" but we suggest using Chromaluxe panels which were developed for the high-end photographic print market. Click here to get started.

Printing images is a serious investment. Ounce per ounce, printer inks are more expensive than Dom Perignon, and the time and tools used to print require substantial commitments. To make prints of beautiful images without taking the steps necessary to print them so they will last as long as possible is unfathomable. Why would we do this? The few pennies or minutes saved by cutting corners are minuscule, and these compromises will come back to bite us. That's why we only utilize inks and media that are certified "Archival" and/or "Acid Free"
